Business consultants and entrepreneurs revealed the main challenges facing small and entrepreneurial projects, confirming that weak sales, rising costs, repetitive ideas, and the absence of financial and marketing planning are among the most important reasons for project failure and closure. Meanwhile, market research, understanding customer needs, and providing a competitive advantage contribute to enhancing the chances of project success and continuity.
Business consultant Mohammed Al-Harbi explained that the similarity of community needs leads to the repetition of business ideas, noting that the success of a project does not necessarily require inventing a groundbreaking idea, but rather providing solutions to real and recurring needs, with customers willing to pay, an appropriate profit margin, and a competitive advantage that is difficult to imitate.
He indicated that the main reasons for project closures include weak demand, lack of market understanding, limited cash flow, incorrect pricing, and unstudied expansion, in addition to weak marketing, accumulating debts, and the absence of a competitive advantage.
Quality and Prices
For his part, entrepreneur Khaled Al-Omari confirmed that the success and continuity of his project were linked to focusing on product quality and appropriate prices, improving the customer experience, and the speed of service delivery, along with continuous development and expense management.
He pointed out that patience, understanding customer needs, and learning from mistakes are essential factors for the continuity of projects, noting that closing a project does not necessarily mean the failure of its owner, but may represent a practical experience that reveals shortcomings in planning, management, and market study.
Accumulated Losses
In a different experience, former entrepreneur Ryan Al-Tamimi revealed that rising costs and declining sales led him to close his project after its continuity became economically unfeasible, especially in light of competition from similar projects and the multitude of options available to customers.
He explained that he tried to reduce expenses and study the reasons for the decline in sales, but the continued losses compelled him to make the decision to close in order to avoid incurring additional losses.
Al-Tamimi confirmed his readiness to embark on a new entrepreneurial experience, this time focusing on deeper market study, identifying customer needs, and preparing a clear financial and marketing plan before launching the project.
Competition and Offers
For his part, former entrepreneur Rakan Al-Anzi attributed the closure of his project to rising costs and the difficulty of developing work mechanisms, along with strong competition from projects offering attractive prices and deals to customers.
He noted that he tried to improve the level of service and provide different offers to attract customers, but the results did not meet the targets, which led him to halt the project instead of continuing without economic feasibility.
Al-Anzi indicated that he is currently studying the launch of a new project, prioritizing the selection of a suitable location and studying competitors and customer needs, to benefit from his previous experience and avoid repeating mistakes.
The participants agreed that the repetition of ideas does not prevent project success as long as a competitive advantage and economic feasibility are available, while the decision to close may present an opportunity to reevaluate the experience and launch a project more capable of sustainability.
