The Egyptian artist Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra’s salary has been suspended by the tax authority.
Peace of Mind
Abu Zahra’s son stated in his Facebook post: “The tax authority has seized my father’s pension, even though he does not own significant assets or have money in the banks,” pointing out that this action was taken at a time when his father needs care and tranquility after more than sixty years of serving art and the nation. He emphasized that his father has never asked for anything from anyone throughout his life, and all he currently wishes for is to spend his last days in peace of mind.”
He added that the seized pension is not enough to cover even a small part of the medication costs his father needs, calling on the officials to consider his humanitarian situation and show compassion for what he has contributed throughout his life to art and society.
Final Retirement
Regarding Abu Zahra’s health condition, the artist’s son confirmed in press statements that his father’s condition is completely stable and he is not suffering from any health issues at the moment, explaining: “Thank God, my father’s health is much better and stable.”
The artist’s son settled the debate about the possibility of his father returning to acting, confirming that the decision to retire is final and there is no intention to reverse it. He added: “The truth is that the retirement decision has been clear from the beginning, and there is no thought of going back on it, and my father completely refuses any appearances.”
