At least six people have died following a horrific mid-air collision between two helicopters west of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in an aviation disaster that has shaken the global artistic community after the catastrophic news of the presence of the famous American singer “Oliver Tree” on the passenger lists.
Sources from the Brazilian police and fire teams confirmed that the violent collision caused debris to fall directly onto a parking lot belonging to an electric vehicle exhibition in the “Recreio dos Bandeirantes” neighborhood, resulting in a massive fire that consumed at least 20 cars, with thick black smoke rising and covering the sky of the area, according to images and videos broadcast by local media and reported by Agence France-Presse.
In tragic details reported by security authorities, the official identification of the six victims remains difficult at this hour due to the charred bodies and severe burns, but the name of American star Oliver Tree was definitively listed among the passengers of one of the helicopters as issued by the police.
This shocking incident brings to mind the small aircraft safety crisis in Brazil, the fifth largest country in the world, where such accidents have become alarmingly frequent. Just last month, the country witnessed a small plane crash over a residential building in Belo Horizonte, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and co-pilot, and now the tragedy in Rio de Janeiro has reopened the file on air safety and private flights in the country.
