WhatsApp is getting closer to giving users more space to personalize their accounts, through a new feature that allows adding cover photos to profiles, in a move that mimics one of Facebook’s most prominent features, and provides users with an additional way to control how their accounts look and how they appear to others.
According to WABetaInfo, a site specialized in tracking WhatsApp updates, the platform has started rolling out the feature to some beta users on Android phones, as part of update number 2.26.43.11, available through the Google Play Store.
Previously, the cover photo feature was limited to WhatsApp Business accounts, which allow companies to display a wide image at the top of their profile to showcase their activities and identity. However, the new update expands its use to personal accounts, without the need to convert the account to a business version.
WhatsApp is expected to gradually roll out the feature to more users over the coming weeks, after the testing phase concludes.
