In a fleeting moment that was unforeseen, an ordinary business trip in the farthest exile turned into a tragic nightmare that shocked the artistic community and the Arab audience, after a famous Lebanese singer received the news of her husband and companion’s death due to a sudden electrical accident that ended his life instantly.
The late engineer Najib Akeeki did not suffer from any illnesses; he was living his daily life normally while in Ghana. In the details of the painful incident, a sudden water leak occurred at his location, coinciding with the presence of an electrical source touching the water, leading to a strong and fatal electric shock that left doctors with no chance to save him.
20 Years of Stability Away from the Spotlight
The tragedy was not only in the manner of departure but also in its timing, as the incident closed the chapter on one of the calmest and most successful marriages in the artistic community. For nearly 20 years (since their marriage in 2005), the late husband and artist Laura Khalil made sure to keep their family life completely away from the noise of the spotlight, rumors, and social media crises.
- A family of 3 children: These long years resulted in 3 children who lived in a stable family environment, thanks to their parents’ commitment to separating art from home.
- Departure in silence: The late man preferred to work and stay away from the cameras, leaving life in silence far from his homeland.
Following the spread of the tragic news, social media pages in Lebanon and the Arab world turned into mourning tents, as messages of condolence and sympathy poured in from stars of the art world and followers of artist Laura Khalil and her family, emphasizing the difficulty of the tragedy and calling for prayers for her patience and solace.
