The Saudi-American roundtable meeting was held yesterday (Tuesday) in Riyadh, coinciding with the ninth session of the Saudi-American Trade and Investment Forum (TIFA), organized by the Saudi General Authority for Foreign Trade, with the participation of representatives from government agencies and 83 private sector companies from both countries.
Attending the meeting were Abdulaziz Al-Sukran, Deputy Governor of the General Authority for Foreign Trade for International Relations, Walid Al-Areenan, Secretary-General of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce, and Charles Hallab, CEO of the Saudi-American Business Council.
The meeting reviewed prospects for enhancing economic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, and discussed opportunities for trade and investment cooperation in several vital sectors, contributing to the development of the economic partnership and increasing the volume of trade between the two countries, which reached approximately $33 billion during 2024.
Al-Sukran emphasized that the roundtable meeting is part of the Authority’s commitment to enhancing the role of the private sector in developing trade relations by enabling it to access foreign markets and working to remove obstacles it faces in coordination with relevant authorities, noting that trade relations between the Kingdom and the United States are witnessing growing economic activity that has contributed to the volume of trade between the two countries exceeding $500 billion over the past decade.
It is worth mentioning that the General Authority for Foreign Trade plays a pivotal role in developing bilateral trade relations by overseeing business councils and coordinating councils, in addition to supporting and enabling non-oil Saudi exports to reach global markets and overcoming the challenges they face.
