The Pharaohs’ qualification for the 2026 World Cup was not just a thrilling football morning, but it quickly turned into a scene of comedy and mockery on social media, with the star of the most notable moment this time being the actress Nelly Karim.
Away from tactical analysis, Nelly Karim captured the most provocative and comedic moment in the match between Egypt and Iran, turning it into a sarcastic “trend” that swept Facebook in just a few minutes.
An Incomplete Joy.. Behind the Scene of the “Sunglasses” Moment
The match witnessed a tense moment for the Egyptians when one of the Iranian players managed to score against the Egyptian net. In the midst of his celebration, the player decided to show off by wearing “sunglasses” in front of the cameras, but the joy of the Iranian player evaporated in a matter of seconds, as the offside flag (and VAR) intervened to cancel the goal, turning the showy scene into a joke that the Egyptian fans mocked.
Nelly Karim did not miss this moment, deciding to tease millions of fans through her official Facebook account. The star used an iconic meme of her colleague, the star Basem Samra, from their famous series “Zat” (in the character of Abdel-Meguid), where he is wearing sunglasses in a popular and sarcastic style.
Nelly accompanied the image with a funny comment that summarized the situation, saying: “The player who scored against us and celebrated with sunglasses, and then the goal was canceled.” The post garnered a crazy amount of interaction, as social media users shared it like wildfire, proving that the stars of Egyptian art are strongly present in the “trend” stands, supporting their national team with their usual humor.
This festive and sarcastic atmosphere came after the referee of the match at “Lumen Field” in Seattle, USA, blew the final whistle, announcing the end of the football epic with the Egyptian team drawing 1-1 with their Iranian counterpart in the third and final round. This exciting draw was enough to secure the Pharaohs a historic ticket to the knockout stages of the 2026 World Cup, prompting the fans to turn the page on the group stage and prepare for the upcoming “bone-breaking” clash.
