وجرى تداول خام «غرب تكساس» الوسيط قرب 96 دولاراً.
وألغى الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب رحلة كانت مقررة خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع لمبعوثيه الكبار إلى باكستان، التي تتوسط في المحادثات، بينما قالت إيران إنها لن تتفاوض ما دامت تتعرض للتهديد.
توقف «هرمز»
وقالت مديرة برنامج الشرق الأوسط بأحد المراكز الإستراتيجية مونا يعقوبيان: «المضيق لا يزال إلى حد كبير تحت الحصار، مع توقف حركة المرور».
وأضافت: «يبدو أن أياً من الطرفين لا يريد العودة إلى صراع مفتوح. نحن في حالة جمود تام، ووصل الوضع إلى طريق مسدود».
Oil prices rose after efforts to resume peace talks regarding the war with Iran stumbled, with the vital Strait of Hormuz effectively remaining closed, extending the disruptions that have unsettled markets in the Middle East.
Brent crude rose by as much as 2.3% to $107.73 a barrel.
West Texas Intermediate crude was trading near $96.
U.S. President Donald Trump canceled a planned trip over the weekend for his senior envoys to Pakistan, which is mediating the talks, while Iran stated that it would not negotiate as long as it is under threat.
Closure of “Hormuz”
Mona Yacoubian, director of the Middle East program at a strategic center, said: “The strait is still largely under siege, with traffic halted.”
She added: “It seems that neither side wants to return to open conflict. We are in a complete stalemate, and the situation has reached an impasse.”
