تداولت بعض المواقع الإخبارية أنباء عن تحديث جديد لتطبيق واتساب سيوقف دعمه لهواتف تعمل بإصدارات قديمة من أندرويد وiOS، مشيرة إلى أنه ابتداءً من الأول من ديسمبر، لن يعمل التطبيق بشكل صحيح على الأجهزة التي لا تستوفي الحد الأدنى من متطلبات البرنامج، مثل هواتف Android 5.1 أو أقدم، وiOS 11 أو أقدم.
لكن الحقيقة تختلف، وفق الموقع الرسمي لواتساب، إذ إن الأنظمة المدعومة حاليًا هي أندرويد 5.0 أو أحدث وiOS 15.1 أو أحدث، بينما لا تدعم الإصدارات الأقدم تشغيل التطبيق.
وكانت شركة ميتا قد بدأت منذ يونيو الماضي تطبيق قرار إيقاف تشغيل واتساب على عدد من طرازات آيفون القديمة، بهدف تعزيز أمان المستخدمين وضمان كفاءة تشغيل التطبيق. الأجهزة المتأثرة شملت iPhone 5s وiPhone 6 وiPhone 6 Plus، التي لم تعد إصداراتها تلبي الحد الأدنى لمتطلبات الأمان للتطبيق.
بهذه الخطوة، تؤكد واتساب حرصها على تجربة استخدام آمنة وسلسة للمستخدمين، مع تحذير أصحاب الهواتف القديمة بضرورة الترقية إذا أرادوا الاستمرار في استخدام التطبيق دون انقطاع.
Some news sites have circulated reports about a new update for the WhatsApp application that will stop supporting phones running older versions of Android and iOS, indicating that starting from December 1st, the application will not function properly on devices that do not meet the minimum program requirements, such as phones running Android 5.1 or older and iOS 11 or older.
However, the reality is different, according to the official WhatsApp website, as the currently supported systems are Android 5.0 or newer and iOS 15.1 or newer, while older versions do not support running the application.
Meta had started implementing the decision to stop WhatsApp from running on several older iPhone models since last June, aiming to enhance user security and ensure the application’s operational efficiency. The affected devices included the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus, whose versions no longer meet the minimum security requirements for the application.
With this step, WhatsApp confirms its commitment to providing a safe and smooth user experience, warning owners of older phones that they need to upgrade if they wish to continue using the application without interruption.
