ليس سهلاً أن يدخل المرء مهنة الصحافة من أبوابها الضيقة ثم يخرج منها محمّلاً بكل هذا الضوء الإنساني والمهني معاً، لكن عبدالله القبيع، الزميل والصديق والأستاذ، كان له سيرة ومسيرة تبدو كأنها كتبت لتؤكد، أن الشغف الصادق قادر على أن يصنع طريقه حتى في أكثر الممرات وعورة.

كان دائماً ما يجنح إلى أسلوب المفاجأة للخروج بأصدق محتوى، حتى في رحيله فاجأنا جميعاً بلا سابق تلميح عن وجع أو تصريح عن ألم..

بدأ القبيع رحلته في الصحافة هاوياً بسيطاً، لا يملك سوى حب جارحٍ للكلمة، وإيمانٍ عميق بأن الصحافة ليست وظيفة عابرة بل قدرٌ يختار أصحابه بعناية.

من جدة، التي شهدت مولده عام 1959، حمل القبيع أحلامه الأولى ومضى نحو عالم المطبوعات من أبسط درجاته وأكثرها مشقة، في زمنٍ كانت فيه هذه المهنة تتطلب صبراً طويلاً وعيناً دقيقة وذائقة جمالية لا تخطئ.

ولم يكن الطريق مفروشاً بشيء سوى العمل المتواصل، غير أن هذه البداية المتواضعة كانت البذرة التي كشفت مبكراً عن موهبةٍ تتشكل بهدوء وثبات.

تدرّج بخطوات واثقة من أرصفة الميدان إلى رئاسة التحرير، بدأ صحفياً هاوياً حتى أصبح رئيساً للقسم الفني في جريدة «المدينة»، ثم اتسعت تجربته خارج حدود الوطن حين انتقل إلى صحيفة «الشرق الأوسط» في مركزها الرئيسي بلندن، حيث خاض واحدة من أهم مراحل التكوين المهني، متقدماً في المسؤوليات حتى تولى موقع مدير التحرير.

هناك، في قلب المشهد الإعلامي العربي والدولي، صقل أدواته، واكتسب رؤية أعمق لدور الصحافة بوصفها رسالة معرفة وتأثير، لا مجرد صناعة خبر.

ولم تتوقف الرحلة عند هذا الحد؛ إذ أسهم في تجربة رائدة حين تولى رئاسة تحرير أول مجلة فضائية عربية «تي في»، الصادرة عن المجموعة نفسها، في خطوةٍ عكست قدرته على استشراف التحولات الإعلامية المبكرة والتعامل معها بروحٍ مهنية خلاقة. وعند عودته إلى المملكة، كان طبيعياً أن يُسند إليه منصب نائب رئيس تحرير صحيفة «الوطن»، ليواصل حضوره الفاعل في تطوير الخطاب الصحفي وصناعة المحتوى المؤثر، ثم رئيساً لتحرير مجلة رؤى العكاظية.

امتدت بصمته إلى الشاشة أيضاً، من خلال مشاركاته في إعداد برامج تلفزيونية أدبية على قناة MBC، وأخرى رياضية على قناة ART، في تنوّعٍ يعكس اتساع اهتماماته ومرونته المهنية.

كما ترك أثره في الحقل الأدبي بإصداراتٍ وجدانية، من بينها كتاب «رسائلي إليك»، الذي يكشف جانباً أكثر حميمية من شخصيته، حيث يلتقي الصحفي بالإنسان، وتلين اللغة أمام صدق الشعور.

ورغم هذا السجل المهني الحافل، ظل عبدالله القبيع قريباً من الناس، طيب القلب، دمث الخلق، لا يتكئ على المناصب بقدر ما يستند إلى محبة من عرفوه وجالسوه. فهو موسوعة حية في الحديث، وصديق لا يُملّ حضوره، يجمع بين رصانة التجربة ودفء الروح، وبين صرامة المهنة ورقة الإنسان.

حصل القبيع على بكالوريوس العلوم الاجتماعية من جامعة الملك عبدالعزيز بجدة عام 1980، أب عظيم لأربعة أبناء، عاش حياته موزعاً بين مسؤوليات الأسرة ووفائه الطويل للصحافة، تلك التي لم تكن بالنسبة إليه مجرد مهنة، بل بيت كبير فتح له أبوابه الصعبة أولاً، ثم منحه مكانته التي يستحق.

إن التأمل في سيرة عبدالله القبيع، يكشف درساً عميقاً في معنى الإصرار النبيل؛ فالرجل الذي بدأ من الصفر لم يبحث عن مجدٍ سريع، بل آمن بأن الطريق الحقيقي يُبنى خطوةً خطوة، وأن الكلمة الصادقة وحدها القادرة على البقاء. لذلك تبدو تجربته اليوم شاهداً حياً على جيلٍ من الصحفيين الذين صنعوا حضورهم بالعمل الصامت، وتركوا أثرهم في الذاكرة المهنية والإنسانية معاً.

رحيل عبدالله القبيع كان كقُبلة دافئة طُبعت على جبين وقور آثر أن ينام بهدوء وإلى الأبد.. رحمه الله.

It is not easy for one to enter the field of journalism through its narrow doors and then emerge laden with all this human and professional light together, but Abdullah Al-Qubai, the colleague, friend, and teacher, had a biography and journey that seem to have been written to affirm that genuine passion can carve its path even in the most rugged corridors.

He always leaned towards the element of surprise to produce the most authentic content, even in his departure, he surprised us all without any prior hint of pain or declaration of suffering…

Al-Qubai began his journey in journalism as a simple amateur, possessing nothing but a deep love for words and a profound belief that journalism is not a fleeting job but a destiny that chooses its bearers carefully.

From Jeddah, where he was born in 1959, Al-Qubai carried his first dreams and moved towards the world of print from its simplest and most arduous levels, at a time when this profession required long patience, a keen eye, and an impeccable aesthetic taste.

The road was not paved with anything but continuous work; however, this humble beginning was the seed that early revealed a talent forming quietly and steadily.

He progressed with confident steps from the sidewalks of the field to the editorial chair, starting as an amateur journalist until he became the head of the arts section at the newspaper “Al-Madina,” then his experience expanded beyond the borders of the homeland when he moved to the “Middle East” newspaper at its headquarters in London, where he went through one of the most important stages of professional formation, advancing in responsibilities until he assumed the position of managing editor.

There, in the heart of the Arab and international media scene, he honed his tools and gained a deeper vision of the role of journalism as a message of knowledge and influence, not just news production.

The journey did not stop there; he contributed to a pioneering experience when he took over the editorial leadership of the first Arab satellite magazine “TV,” published by the same group, in a step that reflected his ability to foresee early media transformations and deal with them with a creative professional spirit. Upon his return to the Kingdom, it was natural for him to be assigned the position of deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Al-Watan,” to continue his active presence in developing journalistic discourse and creating impactful content, then becoming the editor-in-chief of “Ru’ya Al-Okaziah” magazine.

His imprint also extended to the screen, through his participation in preparing literary television programs on MBC, and sports programs on ART, in a diversity that reflects the breadth of his interests and professional flexibility.

He also left his mark in the literary field with emotional publications, including the book “My Letters to You,” which reveals a more intimate side of his personality, where the journalist meets the human, and the language softens in the face of sincere feeling.

Despite this rich professional record, Abdullah Al-Qubai remained close to the people, kind-hearted, and gentle in demeanor, not leaning on positions as much as he relied on the love of those who knew him and sat with him. He is a living encyclopedia in conversation, a friend whose presence is never tiresome, combining the gravity of experience with the warmth of the soul, and the rigor of the profession with the tenderness of humanity.

Al-Qubai obtained a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah in 1980, a great father to four children, who lived his life divided between family responsibilities and his long loyalty to journalism, which was not just a profession for him, but a big house that first opened its difficult doors to him, then granted him the status he deserved.

Reflecting on Abdullah Al-Qubai’s biography reveals a profound lesson in the meaning of noble perseverance; the man who started from scratch did not seek quick glory, but believed that the true path is built step by step, and that only the sincere word can endure. Therefore, his experience today stands as a living testament to a generation of journalists who made their presence through silent work and left their mark in both professional and human memory.

Journalist Abdullah Al-Qubai, a heart’s biography that chose journalism as a path for life, and journalism reciprocated with loyalty, leaving in its pages what resembles an everlasting light.

Abdullah Al-Qubai’s departure was like a warm kiss printed on a dignified forehead that chose to sleep peacefully and forever.. May God have mercy on him.
