مع دخول الحرب بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران أسبوعها الخامس، تجاوزت أسعار البنزين في الولايات المتحدة حاجز 4 دولارات للجالون على مستوى البلاد، للمرة الأولى منذ أغسطس 2022؛ ما يعكس تصاعد الضغوط على أسواق الطاقة العالمية وتداعياتها المباشرة على المستهلك الأمريكي.
أكبر زيادة
وبحسب بيانات رابطة السيارات الأمريكية (AAA)، بلغ متوسط السعر الوطني عند محطات الوقود 4.02 دولار للجالون اليوم، في أعلى مستوى له منذ نحو 4 سنوات.
ويأتي هذا الارتفاع بعد زيادة تقارب دولاراً واحداً للجالون خلال شهر واحد فقط، كان معظمها منذ اندلاع الصراع في الشرق الأوسط.
من جانبها، أفادت شركة «غاس بودي» المتخصصة في تتبع أسعار الوقود، بأن متوسط السعر الوطني ارتفع إلى 4.018 دولار للجالون، مسجلاً أعلى مستوى منذ سنوات، وأكبر زيادة شهرية على الإطلاق.
وتعكس هذه القفزة الارتفاع الحاد في أسعار النفط الخام، إذ صعد كل من خام برنت العالمي وخام غرب تكساس الأمريكي بنحو 50% خلال الشهر الماضي منذ بداية الحرب. وتداولت العقود الآجلة لخام برنت قرب 107.8 دولار للبرميل، فيما استقر خام غرب تكساس حول 102 دولار للبرميل.
احتواء الأسعار
وفي محاولة لاحتواء ارتفاع الأسعار، خففت إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب في 25 مارس الجاري القيود الفيدرالية على الإيثانول، عبر إصدار إعفاء طارئ يسمح باستخدام وقود E15، بهدف زيادة المعروض من خليط وقود أقل تكلفة قبل موسم القيادة الصيفي. كما أقر البيت الأبيض إعفاءً مؤقتاً لمدة 60 يوماً من متطلبات «قانون جونز» التي ترفع كلفة الشحن الداخلي.
إلا أن هذه الإجراءات لم تنجح حتى الآن في كبح جماح أسعار البنزين على مستوى البلاد.
ولم يقتصر العبء على سائقي السيارات فقط، إذ يواجه قطاع النقل ضغوطاً أكبر، إذ ارتفع متوسط سعر غالون الديزل إلى 5.45 دولار، مسجلاً بدوره أكبر زيادة شهرية على الإطلاق، وفق بيانات «غاس بودي».

Largest Increase
According to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA), the national average price at gas stations reached $4.02 per gallon today, the highest level in nearly four years.
This increase follows a rise of nearly one dollar per gallon in just one month, most of which occurred since the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East.
For its part, the fuel price tracking company “Gas Buddy” reported that the national average price rose to $4.018 per gallon, marking the highest level in years and the largest monthly increase ever.
This jump reflects the sharp rise in crude oil prices, as both global Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate increased by about 50% over the past month since the war began. Brent crude futures traded near $107.8 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate settled around $102 per barrel.
Containing Prices
In an attempt to contain rising prices, the administration of President Donald Trump eased federal restrictions on ethanol on March 25, issuing an emergency waiver allowing the use of E15 fuel, aimed at increasing the supply of a cheaper fuel blend ahead of the summer driving season. The White House also approved a temporary 60-day exemption from the “Jones Act” requirements that raise the cost of domestic shipping.
However, these measures have not yet succeeded in curbing gasoline prices nationwide.
The burden has not been limited to drivers alone, as the transportation sector faces even greater pressures, with the average price of a gallon of diesel rising to $5.45, also recording the largest monthly increase ever, according to “Gas Buddy” data.
