The Harf Cultural System crowned the winners of the Harf Poetry Competition last night (Wednesday), which was launched in celebration of the 96th Saudi National Day under the slogan “Our Pride is in Our Nature.” This took place at a ceremony held in Riyadh, attended by a select group of poets, writers, intellectuals, and those interested in literary affairs.
The competition attracted more than 600 poetry submissions from the Kingdom and Gulf countries during the period from August 23 to September 23, 2026, via the Harf application, with public votes exceeding 60,000, while the campaign reached over 10 million views.
The first place was awarded to poet Jaafar Saeed Al-Qahtani from Riyadh, who received the Harf Golden Pen and a cash prize of 100,000 riyals. The second place went to poet Ibrahim Abdu Najmi from Jazan, who received the Harf Silver Pen and a prize of 50,000 riyals, while the third place was awarded to poet Ateem from Kuwait, who received the Harf Bronze Pen and a prize of 25,000 riyals.
During the ceremony, it was announced that five additional poets would be honored, chosen by the organizing committee and the judging panel in recognition of the significant turnout and the quality of the poetry submissions. The winners recited their poems on stage, and the names included: poet Khalaf Al-Mushaan, who was unable to attend, poet Khuzam Al-Suhaili, poet Eshq Al-Dajani, poet Bandar Al-Fadghosh, and poet Mohammed Al-Shurman. Additionally, judging committee members Khalid Al-Oufi and Badr Al-Zahiri presented their readings on the level of submissions and evaluation criteria.
In a notable moment of the ceremony, the Harf Cultural System, one of the companies of the Fayo Group, announced the first version of the Harf application, a social space dedicated to Arabic literature, allowing poets and writers to publish their poems and texts and interact with their audience.
The winning poets were honored by Dr. Fahd Al-Arabi Al-Harithi, media figure Ali Al-Alyani, and Ali Al-Harbi, the founder of the Harf System and supervisor of the competition, as well as the managing director of Fayo Group, and Fahd Al-Waili, head of business development at Fayo Group.
The literary night concluded with the crowning and honoring of the winners, along with commemorative photos taken on stage amidst a grand celebration from the audience of the first-place winner.
Ali Al-Harbi, founder of the Harf System, stated: “No matter what we offer to the homeland, we remain insufficient, and we will continue to take the initiative and provide the homeland with everything precious and valuable. The competition came as an initiative of love for the homeland, manifested through the poets’ verses from various Arab countries, and opened the door for the audience to vote and choose the winning poet.”
Al-Harbi added: “Investing in literature through modern technology started from the idea of the application, which was founded on all literature, writers, and poets, and those in the orbit of classical or colloquial Arabic literature within a solid cultural system that yields many cultural and social gains beneficial to everyone.”
Fahd Al-Waili, head of business development at Fayo Group, the owner of the application, said: “After two years of working on developing the application and ensuring its suitability for Arabic literature in general, specifically regarding colloquial and classical poetry due to its wider audience, as well as creating a literary environment that accommodates content creators, critics, and those with creative design and production talents, we decided to launch a small part of the application that aligns with a national occasion dear to our hearts, represented in the 96th Saudi National Day, which carried the slogan ‘Our Pride is in Our Nature.’ We succeeded in reaching the primary target by opening the door for poets from Saudi Arabia, the Gulf, and the Arab world to express their love for Saudi Arabia through poetry, and we achieved this as evidenced by the statistics of the number of participants and voters and the massive impact.”
Al-Waili added: “There are many upcoming initiatives, and the main goal is to serve literature and gather all lovers and their audience in a comprehensive and innovative system, the first of its kind.”
Fahd Al-Waili concluded his statement: “The application is vast, and there are activities within the Harf Cultural System, which includes: Harf Podcast, Harf House, Harf Documentaries, Harf Nights, and Harf Channel, extending the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in the cultural sector.”
