The French capital, Paris, is hosting today, Monday, as part of the visit program of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi-French roundtable meeting on investment, with the participation of officials and business leaders from both countries.
The meeting will witness the signing of a wide range of agreements and memoranda of understanding in various sectors.
According to sources from (Al Arabiya Business), the value of the deals expected to be signed between Saudi and French entities and companies exceeds ten billion dollars, in a move that reflects the depth of the economic partnership between the two sides. The discussions during the meeting will focus on cooperation in advanced industries, the transportation sector, and logistics services, in addition to artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and other vital areas.
This meeting comes as an extension of the growing investment relations between the Kingdom and France, and in support of joint efforts aimed at expanding cooperation and transforming promising opportunities into quality projects that serve the interests of both countries.
French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that the Crown Prince’s visit represents a pivotal step in enhancing peace and stability, noting through the (X) platform that the two countries will continue their joint dialogue in facing the challenges of the region.
In this context, economic expert Mohammed Al-Anqari explained that the importance of the visit is not only related to bilateral relations but also to its timing, which comes amid economic and geopolitical challenges affecting energy markets and global supply chains. He pointed out that the visit is the first state visit since the outbreak of the war between the United States and Iran, at a time when Europe is facing the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war, especially in the energy file.
Al-Anqari noted that the visit carries multiple messages; the most prominent of which is the continuation of development projects and partnerships that are based on Saudi Vision 2030, emphasizing that Riyadh is moving forward in building long-term strategic partnerships with developed countries, and that the choice of France reflects its economic and technological status, particularly in the fields of clean energy. He added that the convergence of the two countries’ approaches in the renewable energy file opens wide horizons for cooperation, alongside the importance of partnerships in artificial intelligence and modern technologies that are driving the global economy today. He also stressed that the current phase imposes an increasing interest in supply chains and energy security, and that maintaining energy flows and market stability represents a fundamental axis in Saudi-European cooperation.
Regarding navigation security, Al-Anqari clarified that France, as a permanent member of the Security Council, has the political capacity to support international decisions that protect freedom of navigation, alongside its advanced military capabilities and its close partnership with Saudi Arabia in defense areas. He pointed out that Europe needs to secure energy supplies, and that maintaining market shares in Europe represents a common interest, especially in light of Europe’s desire to reduce its dependence on American supplies and enhance its economic decision-making independence.
He confirmed that Saudi Arabia has become a pivotal player in the stability of the region, through its efforts in supporting deterrence, de-escalation, and development, which makes it a key partner for European countries seeking to enhance their economic and political presence.
