The Documentary Production Sector of the United Media Services Company has completed a new documentary film titled “Wahid and His Days,” which explores the creative biography of the late writer Wahid Hamid, one of the most prominent names in the history of Arab drama and cinema, in preparation for its upcoming broadcast on the “Documentary” channel.
Live Testimonials from Stars and Intellectuals
The film does not merely recount the biography but is based on live testimonials provided by several artists and intellectuals, including Youssra, Elham Shaheen, and Abdelaziz Makhioun, along with critic Tarek El-Shennawy, each presenting their own perspective on the writer’s experience and his impact on the artistic and cultural scene.
The film traces Hamid’s journey from his upbringing in one of the villages in Sharqia Governorate, through his move to Cairo in the 1960s, a period that shaped his cultural awareness and paved the way for his emergence.
A Strong Presence and Bold Thought
It also highlights his transition between various fields of writing, from short stories and theater to radio, culminating in his clear imprint on cinema and drama through works that have become part of the audience’s memory.
The documentary emphasizes an important aspect of his intellectual project, particularly his boldness in addressing controversial issues and his role in confronting extremist ideas, which made him a significant voice in Arab culture for many years.
